Dear Earth

Dear Earth is a visualization of Earth Geologic Time. There is growing agreement that we are in the moments of the sixth big extinction. This extinction is considered to be caused by fossil fuels and to have begun anywhere between 11,000 years ago and as recent as 1950. It is man-made and driven. The section colors of the book correspond to Earth eras over 4.5 billion years. The time-line is represented by folios of 75 million years. Evidence of the first human-like existence represents less than one folio.

The process of creating this book was surprisingly wondrous in the realization that we are minute, yet still graced with a moment in this universe. Sewing this book, absent of text, offered a physical meditation and appreciation.
